Are sliding doors practical for small apartments?
Hi everyone, my apartment is quite compact and I'm thinking about replacing the regular swing doors with sliding doors to save space. Has anyone done this? How do they handle daily use, do they block sound well, and are they easy to keep clean? Any drawbacks I should know about?

I switched to sliding doors in my small condo last year and it was one of the best decisions for maximizing floor space. They glide smoothly if you choose good quality tracks and don’t take up any swing radius, which is perfect for tight hallways and bedrooms. Sound insulation is decent but not as good as solid swing doors – adding weatherstripping helps. They stay fairly clean with occasional wiping.
If you’re considering this option, I found a nice selection of modern designs here: sliding doors They offer both barn-style and pocket options with different finishes. Installation was straightforward with their guides and the space improvement is noticeable every day.
