Downloading and installing the Production Mapping extension

  • Click the [My Organizations] tab and select [Downloads] from the left menu.



  • Under [ArcGIS Desktop], find the latest version of ArcGIS Desktop and click [View Downloads].



  • Under [ArcGIS Desktop Advanced], click [Download] to download the setup program.



  • Run the setup program and follow the instructions to install ArcGIS Desktop on your computer.



  • After the installation is complete, open ArcGIS Administrator from the Start menu.



  • Click the [Desktop] folder in the left pane and select [ArcGIS Desktop Advanced] from the list of products.



  • Click [Authorize Now] and enter your license code for the Production Mapping extension. You can obtain your license code from your Esri account or by contacting Esri Customer Service.



  • Click [Finish] to complete the authorization process.




You have now successfully installed and activated the Production Mapping extension on your computer. You can verify that the extension is available by opening ArcMap and clicking [Customize > Extensions] from the main menu. You should see a check mark next to [Production Mapping].


Using the Production Editing toolbar




The Production Editing toolbar is a customized version of the Editor toolbar that provides additional tools and features for editing geographic data. The Production Editing toolbar includes tools for creating, modifying, validating, and managing features and attributes. To access the Production Editing toolbar, follow these steps:



  • Open ArcMap and add some data layers to your map.



  • Click [Customize > Toolbars > Production > Production Editing] from the main menu to display the Production Editing toolbar.



  • Click [Start Editing] on the Production Editing toolbar to start an edit session. You will see two windows appear: [Manage Features] and [Create Attributes].




The Manage Features window allows you to create new features using feature templates, which are predefined sets of attributes and symbology for a specific feature type. The Create Attributes window allows you to enter or modify attribute values for the selected feature template or feature. You can also use other tools on the Production Editing toolbar to perform various editing operations, such as cutting, merging, reshaping, rotating, splitting, or tracing features.
